DATA COMPASS FEATURE

The product, Data Compass (hereafter is referred to as DC) mainly has the following features compared with other logical data recovery products:

  • DC can access and scan the patient drive which has been no longer detected by the computer because of severe bad sector problem.
  • DC can read data from bad sectors, which can’t be done by traditional data recovery software.
  • DC adopts physical write blocker and ShadowDisk technology to make sure no change or damage will be occur to the patient drive; this is very important and is an advantage especially for customers who works in data recovery companies (they can promise their customers that even if we can’t recover your data, we will return the drive to you in its original status).
  • DC is a hardware-software complex product, which allows users to conduct many low-level operations towards the patient hard drive when doing data recovery, therefore to increase the depth and success rate of data recovery.
  • DC chiefly has the following features compared with other disk imaging products:
  • Comprehensive support. Data Compass works on all drives of different manufacturers with PATA and SATA interfaces, including 3.5", 2.5", 1.8", etc.
  • DC adopts “SA Analog” technology. Aiming at those drives which have media defects in the SA, which is being undetected in the BIOS (so far no tool in the world can fix this kind of problem), Data Compass bypasses the SA boot failure, and then by reading only the key modules such as P-List from the SA to access the user data area directly for data recovery. For professional data recovery companies, they will need to deal with patient drives with not only defects in the user data area, but also in the system area of the drive; dealing with defects in the system area needs expertise and experience plus special equipments and tools, while many of them still can’t be fixed. By using DC, these defects will be “bypassed”, so that even a newbie can be able to work better than an expert.
  • Before DC was released, Disk Image was a very important phase in data recovery, especially when the drive is in an unstable status; all the data will be imaged from the patient drive to another functional drive by disk imaging tools, and then data recovery will be performed on the functional imaged drive. This traditional procedure has an obvious disadvantage: you need to wait until the disk image finish to recover your data, even what you need is only a few files from the patient drive, you will still need to perform a whole disk image, and the time cost for a disk image will be hours or even days depends on the capacity and the drive status (the more bad sectors it has, the slower the image will be). Now, thanks to DC, data recovery professionals need not to prepare an image for the patient drive before data recovery happens; Pioneered Disk Image Technique - ShadowDisk, which images the sector physically from the defective drive to a functioning drive at the same time when the sector is being requested. So that each sector being requested will first be imaged to a good drive, and then the read/write request will be directed to the image disk. You don't need to spend lots of time to create an image, but actually you are working on an image when using DC with the patient drive.
  • DC hardware part connects to your computer via USB cable, which enables you to work data recovery from even a laptop, no special socket required. DC software part runs on Windows XP and Vista, with a standard Windows GUI, everyone who uses Windows OS can handle this software easily following the user manual.
  • DC adopts pioneered read algorithm, different experiments have indicated that DC reads the hard drive with bad sector problem at least 3 times faster than any other similar products.
  • DC hardware is compatible with any of the logical data recovery software. That means besides the logical data recovery software provided originally, you can use any other data recovery software of your own to perform file retrieval. By connecting the patient drive which can’t be “seen” by the computer to DC, it will become visible again as an external USB hard drive, and then you can use any software to access this drive for file retrieval. This is very important especially when one customer has been very familiar and skilful with some software, he won’t try other software easily.
  • DC is new to the market, and its competitors have promoted and sold their products for many years, they own a large market share compared with us; besides, our product adopts pioneered procedures and technologies, therefore most of the customers still don’t understand the advantage of our product, it needs time for them to change their traditional point of view on disk image.
